The Centre for Research on Employment and Work (CREW) aspires to become an internationally recognised Centre of Excellence on work and employment and its organizational and societal contexts. We are looking for a Research Fellow whose research interests fit with a research ethos that embodies collaboration, social justice, fairness and transparency and with our crosscutting themes. These themes centre on Work Quality (working time and intensification; technology, digitalisation and work organisation; work-life boundaries; the relationship between paid and unpaid labour, precarity and the ‘gig’ economy and flexibilization); Public Ownership (remunicipalisation, the development of public and private services and the impact of out-sourcing / off-shoring; public service motivation and performance); Equality, Diversity and Democratic Governance at work (intersectional experiences; income and pay distribution; low pay; the gender and ethnic pay gap; whistle blowing; transparency, business ethics and professionalism, work identities) and Working Relationships (Employment relations and work institutions, including individual and collective representation at work; collective bargaining, workplace mediation and workplace conflict, leadership, training, coaching, mentoring, contractual relationships).

These four cross-cutting themes form the basis of CREW’s strategic research strategy into work and employment in public and private sector organisations, in health and social care, in self-employment, third sector agencies, as well as multinational corporations and their supply chains.

The fellowship offers:

  • Three years competitive salary (AC2), following the University’s Research Career Pathway.
  • Extensive career development support, including participation in a mentoring scheme associated with the Research and Enterprise Training Institute.
  • The linking of the Fellowship to an established academic post, subject to performance against high-quality performance thresholds and the continued right to work in the UK.
  • Start-up support to facilitate the incorporation of the Fellows research activity.

If your research fits with these areas please contact Dr. Ruth Ballardie at R.T.Ballardie@greenwich.ac.uk to discuss your research aspirations. You will then be required to complete the online application form and upload your CV and a research grant proposal in the format of a discipline-specific UKRI application.

We are looking for people who can help us deliver our mission of transforming lives through inspired teaching and research, through our values.

We aim to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
