Job description

In the School of Computing, Electronics and Mathematics we recognise the importance of developing a strong practical insight into the subject area of one's degree, as well as a solid theoretical foundation. This is achieved through an activity led learning approach, where the academic knowledge is cemented by practical real world examples the students can explore on their own and in groups.

The school's teaching covers traditional courses such as Computing and Computer Science Electrical and Electronic Engineering, as well as Mathematics and Physics, but also more specialised teaching such as Forensic Computing, Games Technology, Ethical Hacking and Network Security

To expand our expertise in both teaching & learning we are looking for a lecturer with a strong knowledge of contemporary programming(such as C++), as well as deep familiarity with game development (for example with Unity 3D and/or Unreal Engine). Therefore strong software design, programming and debugging skills in a range of languages are desirable, along with knowledge of game design principles. We are particularly interested in recruiting staff with experience of building VR/ AR experiences and knowledge of related APIs.

You will be responsible for the development, preparation and delivery of learning, teaching and assessment at undergraduate and post graduate level, ensuring the teaching for which you are responsible is informed by contemporary research and technological evolution in the relevant field and develops the ability of students to engage in debate, critical discourse and rational thinking.

With a PhD and appropriate professional qualification and/or membership, you will need to demonstrate teaching experience at higher education level with evidence of successful student learning outcomes.

The successful candidate will also support the School in our international endeavours which may involve teaching overseas, so experience in this area would be beneficial.

You will need to share our passion for delivering a positive student experience that puts excellence in teaching and learning at the heart of everything you do and will be able to demonstrate significant knowledge of your area of specialisation.

As one of Coventry's biggest employers we will provide an excellent benefits package and a personal and professional development programme that will help you to achieve your aspirations.
