The Department of Economics and Finance is a significant part of the College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences. The Department has more than 37 full-time members of staff and approximately 1000 students. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF), the Department’s research output was rated in the top 20 by research intensity by the Economics and Econometrics panel.

The Department of Economics and Finance is anticipating major growth over the coming years, in Accountancy, Banking, Economics and Finance. The Department is recruiting a Professor of Banking, Economics, Finance or Financial Accounting to support this growth.

Applicants are sought from any area within Banking, Economics, Finance and Financial Accounting. Applicants should normally hold a PhD and possess high quality teaching experience in addition to having a strong research profile. Candidates with a recognised capacity in research or academic leadership, especially management, are preferred. It is anticipated that prospective candidates will be prepared to take on a senior management role in the Department such as Divisional Lead, Head of Department or Director of Teaching or of Research. The successful applicant will also be expected to participate in at least one of the College research centres, Entrepreneurship and Sustainability and Global Lives, or a University Research Institute.

Excellent support in terms of computer and data facilities, as well as the opportunity for potential funding for conferences and other direct research costs, is provided to members of staff.

Informal enquiries can be made to Dr John Hunter, Head of Department
(Tel: 01895 266648 or email  John.Hunter@brunel.ac.uk).
