Professor of Medicinal Chemistry 

A full-time position at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine is open for a Professor in Medicinal Chemistry. The ideal applicant will have an international reputation in both research and education in Medicinal Chemistry within the School’s research area in Health Technologies, Nanomedicine and Bioengineering. Reporting to the Dean and Vice Dean, Research, the appointee is expected to undertake high quality research in Medicinal Chemistry, focusing on natural product chemistry and pharmacological studies on natural products, in line with the research strategy of the School. The appointee will obtain research funding and supervise research staff and students. The appointee is also expected to undertake teaching and educational responsibilities for the training of medical students and postgraduate research students, including in the areas of pharmacology, drug development and bio-entrepreneurship

Person Specification:

  • PhD degree
  • Relevant postdoctoral experience 
  • Proven track record in raising funds from government agencies and industrial partners
  • Exemplary research track record evidenced by publications in top-tiered journals in the field of Natural Product Biomedicine
  • Proven track record of strong leadership and ability to drive change
  • Significant experience and outstanding track record in building up infrastructure and core facilities necessary to support research groups
  • Ability to supervise junior research staff
  • Track record of having supervised graduate students to successful completion of PhDs, as main supervisor
  • Good communication skills and an appreciation for constructive teamwork
  • Experience and desire to participate in postgraduate and undergraduate education and training

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
