Part Time, Fixed Term position for 10 months at 0.8FTE

Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant in the School of Biological Sciences.

Working with the vibrant Conservation and Behaviour Lab, this appointment will support the running of a fixed term project to understand what types of animals people prefer to conserve. The project uses online surveys with images of fictional animals to understand how prior knowledge and species aesthetics affects choices by conservation donors. The project crosses disciplines, and may be of interest to graduates of psychology, anthropology, biology and allied disciplines. You will assist the project by helping to build online surveys and participating in various aspects of data management. You will also participate in project outreach, communicating the results to scientific and non-scientific audiences.

You will have a degree in a relevant subject, and experience communicating science to non-scientific audiences. You will also be computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, and be able to construct graphs and basic analyses in RStudio. The ability to work as part of a team, and an interest in the project’s research questions is essential. Experience of basic website maintenance, creating online surveys (particularly with the online program Qualtrics) and conducting discrete choice experiments are desirable, but full training will be given. For full details of the role, people see the job description and person specification.

In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including generous annual leave and training and development opportunities.  The post is based in Egham, Survey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.

This is a fixed term post to cover a period of 10 months.
