Bristol University Press (BUP), home of the award-winning Policy Press, is looking to appoint an ambitious Senior Commissioning Editor/Publisher to join their growing team.

The SCE/Publisher will drive the development of new lists for BUP, with a focus on interdisciplinary areas that align with our focus on addressing global social challenges. They will be responsible for proactively acquiring and managing new print and digital projects and ensuring high quality work is delivered on time, to specification, and to budget.

They will devise a strategy for the lists which is ambitious and engages with both the academic community and a wider audience.

The successful candidate will be motivated and determined to make a mark with their publishing and in the wider world of academic and professional scholarship and understanding. They will share our commitment to world-class scholarship, global impact and author care and have strong organisational skills, the ability to juggle competing priorities, to think critically and problem solve. They will be commercially astute and have a proven ability to deliver on performance targets.

You should have proven experience of commissioning and managing your own list(s) in the social sciences (or related disciplines); a proven track record of managing a commercially and academically successful lists to stretching financial targets and the ability and willingness to travel regularly for meetings and conferences in the UK and overseas.

An undergraduate degree, preferably in the social sciences or related discipline is essential.
