Hunan Normal University (HNU) and The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) are looking to recruit a Senior Lecturer in Sport & Physical Education to support the joint programme based at Hunan Normal University, Changsha, Hunan Province, P.R China. 

Changsha is the capital city of Hunan province in south central China, there is a direct flight from London Heathrow to Changsha which takes approximately 12 hours. Hunan Normal University has campuses in five positions throughout Changsha City; the College of Physical Education is located on the South Campus. There is an International Faculty where international staff hold teaching positions. HNU also operates as a Confucius Institute and has over 36,000 full time students, approx. 1000 of which are international students from over 43 countries. The university is a comprehensive institution with 92 undergraduate programmes, 180 graduate programmes and 150 Ph.D. programmes running across a range of different subject areas as well as 18 postdoctoral scientific research stations.  Within the five campuses, subject areas range from Clinical Medicine, Law, Journalism and Media to Sports.    

Supporting facilities at HNU include banks, a post office, supermarket, canteen, and social spaces for individual student learning. The International College of Chinese Language and Culture at HNU is especially set up for foreign students to learn Chinese. In each class, there are around 15 students, the college provides one-to-one Chinese language training. 
The joint programme in Sport and Physical Education was approved by the Ministry of Education in China in May 2018 and welcomed its first cohort of students from September 2018. The first year is aligned to a foundation year in the UK with students gaining the basic knowledge and understanding of sport and PE whilst concentrating their efforts on improving their English reading, writing, speaking and listening academic skills.  The BSc (Hons) Sports & Physical Education UCLan degree offered in country also has a focus on football training in line with the Chinese Sports Bureau’s national football strategy.  

All 4 years are offered in country with the opportunity for students to progress to UCLan in Preston in their final year. Successful candidates will deliver content specific Sport and Physical Education modules on the Year 0 and Year 1 course from September 2019. The joint programme will have a maximum of 120 students per academic year.  

Applicants will have experience in leading and managing a PE department in the UK or overseas and delivering PE specific modules or learning units.  Ideally the successful candidate will have taught sport & physical education in an H.E environment, experience of teaching Chinese students and should be qualified and in possession of a postgraduate qualification. This post is based in Changsha, Hunan Province in China.
