The School of Physical Sciences and Computing, of the University of Central Lancashire, welcomes applications for the post of Lecturer in Computing.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic and enthusiastic Computing team, which is currently expanding its teaching and research portfolio, including the development of degree apprenticeships in computing and the expansion of a software engineering apprenticeship with a leading manufacturer.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate that they are able to conduct research in an area of computing that strengthens, or is complementary to, current research within in Computing, and is of a sufficiently high quality to be returnable in the 2020 Research Excellence Framework (REF).
The computing research areas include HCI, Security, Software Engineering, Forensics, and Software Systems, including software quality and Agile methods in industry.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Carry out teaching on courses in Computing, particularly, teaching and supporting students and apprentices on degree apprenticeships.
- Carry out world-class research that is returnable to the REF, preferably in an area that strengthens current security-related research.
- Contribute to the general development and operation of the Computing degrees, including industry-based apprenticeships.
- Carry out other duties, such as course development, industrial liaison, student recruitment and outreach, where needed.
With effective communication skills, you will demonstrate that you can teach, supervise, support and enthuse our students about computing.
An honours degree in Computing (or similar subject) is essential, as is a PhD in an appropriate area of computing. The ability to participate in outreach activities with local school and in industry is essential, along with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively.
