Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Transport Studies

The School of Engineering is seeking the appointment of two Lecturer/Senior Lecturers in Transport Studies to play leading roles in preparing for the launch of the new MSc programme in Transport and Intelligent Mobility (TIM) as well as the continuing growth of our doctoral research programme in Transport Studies. The successful candidates will also be expected to generate external research income and contribute to teaching across existing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the School.
Successful applicants will have a proven track record of research, outstanding communication skills and the desire and ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. A willingness and ability to develop 2 new courses (during Year 1) and contribute to other activities in preparation for the launch of the new MSc in Transport and Intelligent Mobility is a core requirement.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Transport Engineering, Transport Planning or a cognate discipline.

We are particularly seeking expertise in the following areas of teaching and research:

  • Transport Modelling and Simulation
  • Transport Engineering
  • Transport Policy, Governance, Planning and Implementation
  • Intelligent Transport Systems

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 salary scale (£40,792 - £48,676 per annum) for appointments made at Lecturer level and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience. For appointments made at Senior Lecturer level, salary will be paid at the appropriate point on the Grade 8 salary scale (£51,630 - £58,089 per annum) and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.

Any appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references and a 3 year probation period.
