THE UNIVERSITY OF ABERDEEN

SCHOOL OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES

LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN ANIMAL BEHAVIOUR AND CONSERVATION

REF NO: SBS052A

The School of Biological Sciences is looking to appoint a full-time Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Animal Behaviour and Conservation.

We require an individual who can contribute to the delivery and development our UG programmes in Conservation Biology, Animal Behaviour and Zoology and our PGT programme in Ecology and Conservation.  We are interested in applicants with expertise in conservation biology or animal behaviour, whose research focuses on any level of organisation (e.g., ecosystem, community, population, individual, physiological, molecular).  Candidates should have demonstrable research performance in areas that encompass ecological or evolutionary dynamics and the relationship to current relevant global issues.

The research interest can be at any level (e.g., individual, population, community, ecosystem) and will be most likely to encompass eco-evolutionary dynamics, not purely behaviour. We would be interested in the appointment having existing links and collaboration with management and stakeholders.

Applications are invited from candidates who can demonstrate an excellent research profile, as evidenced by publications in leading academic conferences and journals. Candidates will also have the potential for sustaining a funded research programme at the University of Aberdeen.

For a Senior Lecturer position, candidates should demonstrate a sustained track record of successful grant applications, research student supervision and undergraduate/taught postgraduate teaching.

For appointments made at Lecturer level salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 salary scale (£40,792 - £48,676 per annum) and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.

For appointments made at Senior Lecturer Level, salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 8 salary scale (£51,630 - £58,089 per annum) with placement according to qualifications and experience.

Any appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references and a probation period.
