The School of Biological is a vibrant and dynamic centre, internationally renowned for excellence both in teaching and research. Hosting over one hundred academic and research staff, 120 research students, 80 postgraduate taught students and 400 undergraduates; it is a close knit and friendly community.  Based on the main campus at Kings College, the School also has facilities at the Cromarty Lighthouse, a field station at Bettyhill and a presence at the National Decommissioning Centre at Newburgh.

The School of Biological Sciences is looking to appoint a full-time Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Functional Genomics.  

The School of Biological Sciences is looking to recruit in the area of ecological and environmental functional genomics. Applicants should have research interests that complement existing expertise within the School, and we are particularly interested in individuals with a research strength in identifying the genetic basis of ecologically relevant and adaptively important traits; population, species and community responses to environmental change, or; interactions between ecological and evolutionary processes in wild populations. We welcome applications from individuals using either lab or field-based approaches, who are working with animal, plant or microbial systems. 

Applications are invited from candidates who can demonstrate an excellent research profile, as evidenced by publications in leading academic conferences and journals. Candidates must also demonstrate the potential for sustaining a funded research programme at the University of Aberdeen and be familiar with the UK funding landscape.

For a Senior Lecturer position, candidates should demonstrate a sustained track record of successful grant applications, research student supervision and undergraduate/taught postgraduate teaching.

For appointments made at Lecturer level salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7salary scale (£40,792 - £48,676 per annum) and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience. 

For appointments made at Senior Lecturer Level, salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 8 salary scale (£51,630 - £58,089 per annum) with placement according to qualifications and experience.
