LECTURER IN MUSEUM STUDIES

The School of Social Science seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Museum Studies to commence in August 2019. The Lecturer will be based in the Department of Anthropology and will have experience of teaching Museum Studies and applying for research funding commensurate with career stage. 

The successful candidate should have completed their PhD in Anthropology or a related discipline and have experience of teaching and research in Museum Studies. Experience of digitisation methods as applied to museum work is preferred. 

They should be self-motivated, flexible and be willing to teach on a variety of courses at different levels of study, and have the ability to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students and inspire them to learn.  There should be a clear demonstration of an academic and research career trajectory, and a willingness to make a full contribution to the School’s activities.  

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, and will work effectively both independently and as part of a team with colleagues, students, and internal and external associates. 

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 salary scale (£40,792 - £48,676 per annum) for appointments made at Lecturer level and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.  

Any appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references and a 3 year probation period.
