This post represents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and enthusiastic individual to join a team of staff in the Rowett Institute, School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition. The Rowett Institute is one of the foremost nutrition research institutes in Europe undertaking research to address some of the most important contemporary problems in global nutrition. There is a wide range of research carried out within the Institute, from molecular nutrition through to public health.  

Applications are invited for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in International Nutrition to expand our expertise and activities in this area. The post holder will join a very successful team of Rowett and School scientists who are currently executing part of their research programmes in Low and Middle Income countries. The post holder will also play an important role in sustaining and expanding our flagship teaching programmes and courses in (international) nutrition, and contribute to a range of international partnership initiatives to develop and sustain teaching collaborations with a number of Asian partners.  

We are looking for an ambitious and high quality individual who is capable of establishing an internationally visible research profile, has a demonstrable ability to attract appropriate research funding, has a demonstrable ability to capture and motivate (international) students, and who is able to complement and extend the existing activities of the Rowett ( and the School ( We are offering a highly supportive and inspiring environment to build up a high profile international and interdisciplinary research and teaching career as part of a permanent employment contract.    

The post holder will play an important role in the development, implementation and coordination of new internationally competitive research activities in the field of public health nutrition, maternal and childhood nutrition, infection, sustainable food supplies or associated fields linked to addressing global nutritional challenges, especially in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMIC). 

Candidates should have a PhD in public health nutrition, epidemiology, nutritional physiology, or sustainable food supply chains or equivalent, as well as expertise in doing research in Low and Middle Income Countries. Extensive experience with the management of complex international and interdisciplinary projects is an advantage.     
You will have an excellent track record in published research and hold existing external grant income.    
Experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and research student supervision, is required.    

You will be ambitious, enthusiastic, have excellent communication skills, good team-working, organisational and interpersonal skills. 

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 8 salary scale (£51,630 - £58,089 per annum) for Senior Lecturers, or the Grade 7 salary scale (£40,792 - £48,676 per annum) for Lecturers, and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
