Job description

Coventry University's Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience drives innovative transdisciplinary research on the development of resilient food and water systems throughout the world. Unique to the Centre is its research programme on Stabilisation Agriculture, which aims to enhance the ecological and social resilience of agricultural communities to withstand and respond to adverse conditions in countries affected by natural and human-induced disasters. In the pre-disaster phase, agroecology can, for example, be used as a land management tool in disaster risk reduction programmes, while in the post-disaster phase the aim of Stabilisation Agriculture is the swift re-establishment of primary food production systems that are more resilient than previous systems. Sustainable agriculture and food is thus used both as a means to bring about peace and stability, and as a means to avoid conflict or disaster.

This post is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to work with our existing team to provide leadership in this area. The post holder will work with senior and junior academics in CAWR to develop applied research programmes, to secure funding, to build and strengthen networks with national and international partners, and to lead and manage research projects. The aim is for excellence with impact in terms of both the Research Excellence Framework and impact on policy and practice.
