Swansea University is seeking to appoint a Chair in Cyber Security within the College of Science, located on Swansea’s Bay Campus.

The University has enjoyed a period of tremendous growth, achieving its ambition to be a top thirty research University in the Research Excellence Framework league table (26th in 2014), and now has ambitions to rise further in the rankings. In its recent history, the University has developed an enterprise culture that affords significant partnerships with industry and commerce, alongside globally-renowned academic institutions.

The University now seeks to appoint a Professor in Cyber Security to drive forward Cyber Security research within the Department and lead the Cyber Security Group. Swansea Computer Science has a distinguished history of research in new and emerging fields since the 1960s. Building on this foundation, the University would be delighted to hear from applicants who are pioneering new techniques within the discipline. The department has recently been awarded an EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training that will address challenging questions related to AI and big data, including many related to security. As an essential part of the significant ecosystem contributing to the new, £31m Computational Foundry, this role will further enhance Swansea’s reputation in cyber security.

Applicants will be talented and inspiring research leaders with significant, internationally recognised research. Strong candidates will also bring a track record of attracting funding for and leading programmes of individual or collaborative research. The appointed candidate will be able to lead work with a human-centred and impactful perspective, resonating with the ethos of the Computational Foundry. At this time we are looking for candidates who work in an applied and experimental way.
