Division of Hematologic Malignancies and Cellular Therapy Research Tech II

Animal skills

  • handling, breeding and maintaining mice in an established colony --this includes skills in animal husbandry; animal identification and tracking (ear punch);animal gender identification; and using various techniques to genotype mice
  • harvesting bone marrow and spleens from mice (for cell culture)
  • irradiation of mice
  • injection of mice (tail vein, intraperitoneal) with cellular materials and/or various compounds
  • tumor implantation at various sites and tumor monitoring Molecular biology/biochemical analytic skills
  • quantitative(real time)PCR
  • immunoblotting (western)
  • ELISA Cellular analysis skills
  • Multi-parameter flow cytometry (surface and intracellular analysis;cytometric bead array)
  • light microscopy Tissue culture skills
  • culture of mouse and human cells
