We are seeking two excellent academics to join our staff as Lecturers in Criminology, to support the delivery of our undergraduate programmes, the BCL (Law and Criminology) and BA Criminology, and our postgraduate MA in Comparative Criminology and Criminal Justice, and to contribute to the overall teaching, research, and external engagement missions of the Department of Law.

Candidates should have an excellent broad knowledge of criminological theory and criminal justice. We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: criminological research methods (particularly quantitative methods); penal policy; organised crime; desistance; crime, criminalisation and class-gender-race; green criminology; and critical criminology.

The appointees will have a proven record of teaching, research, and publication, appropriate to career stage. They will be expected to make a strong contribution to the teaching mission of the Department, and undertake teaching duties on the Department's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, as well as the supervision of Master's and PhD students.

The appointees will be expected to build a strong research profile that supports the University's research strategy, including affiliating to the Research Institutes, where appropriate, and working with colleagues on national and international research. The appointees will be expected to sustain and conduct research, engage in scholarship of quality and substance, and generate publications of international standard.

Lecturer Salary Scale: €52,849 - €83,090 p.a. (7 points)

Assistant Lecturer Salary Scale: €33,479 - €58,761 p.a. (14 points)

Appointment will be made in accordance with the Department of Finance pay guidelines.

*New entrants to the public sector will be appointed on the first point of the above scale.
