Sr. Research Program Coordinator

General summary/purpose:

The Sr. Research Program Coordinator will be responsible for implementation and monitoring of ongoing of implementation activities in Qatar focused in collaboration with Deloitte on behalf of the Ministry of Public Health. The position will primarily include tasks related to project implementation including training site staff on study procedures and best contemporary public health practice, conducting routine quality assurance and control and facilitating communication between US and Doha-based collaborators. Provide administrative and scientific assistance to JHU faculty engaged in public health practice, with a focus on leadership training, surveys and evaluation research and the practice of public health.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversee implementation of quantitative and qualitative data collection for manpower and public awareness studies.
  • Implement and oversee quality control procedures for data collection.
  • Provide weekly/monthly updates to US investigators and project personnel on implementation of best practices and other metrics of quality control.
  • Assist with study protocol development and changes.
  • Organize and manage project materials.
  • Assist with questionnaire development, piloting and modification.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in related discipline and a minimum of three years of related experience.  
Additional graduate level education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula:  30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.  Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis.  For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in related discipline.
  • Training in Public Health/Epidemiology or a related field preferred. 
  • Related experience in research and project management with prior international experience desired.

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Demonstrated self-management.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks, short deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement.
  • Willingness to travel to Qatar as needed.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
