Applications are invited for appointment as Non-Tenure Track Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery (Ref.: 494310), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a medical qualification registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong, and a higher specialist qualification of Specialty Fellowship in Surgery or equivalent.  They should be specialized surgeons of seniority and be clinically competent in the field of Colorectal Surgery.  They should also have proven achievements in research and publications, an outstanding track record of successful grant applications, a strong commitment to, and demonstrated excellence in, teaching medical students and training residents, and the capability to contribute to undergraduate curriculum development.  Ability to speak Cantonese/Putonghua is preferred as direct communication with patients is required in clinical service.  The appointee will teach, organize and develop undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, conduct high-quality scholarly research, provide clinical service and patient care, and contribute to administrative duties in the Department, Faculty and University.  He/She will discharge his/her duties at the University‚Äôs teaching hospitals in Hong Kong and the HKU-Shenzhen Hospital, and travelling to Shenzhen is therefore necessary.  Further information about the Department can be obtained at

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  A monthly cash allowance will be offered to the successful candidate.   Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
