Mechanical/Electrical Engineer (Cyclotron Engineering)

To provide mechanical and electrical engineering support (maintainence, commissioning, operation and development) for our RDS112 and and GE880 GE PETtrace cyclotron and associated equipment.

The post holder will be responsible for the maintainence and development of cyclotron-related activities and performance (e.g. radionuclide yields, targetry, ancillary equipment and infrastructure) and day to day support, including planned preventative and corrective maintenance, spares ordering, staff training in cyclotron operation and smooth running of the cyclotron and associated equipment. They will play a lead role in the investigation and communication of operational updates and issues to appropriate staff members.

The post holder will join a small team of engineers and work closely with the operations, technical, research and administrative PET laboratory managers to optimise the day-to-day activities of the role.

As an excellent communicator and team player, the post holder will work proactively with the Chemistry team (Head of PET Chemistry, Operations Manager, radiochemistry production, QC/QA staff, chemistry development group) and key PET centre staff including medical physicists, radiographers, clinicians and departmental managers to ensure a smooth-running operation for research and clinical utilisation of the cyclotron.

Suitable applicants will ideally have an excellent track record in mechanical and electrical engineering including experience in producing mechanical and electrical engineering support for automated systems and hardware.

Experience in cyclotron maintenance and operation would be desirable. Experience of working in a regulated environment would also be desirable.

This post will be offered on an indefinite. 
This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent. 
The selection process will include a panel interview.
