This is a one year post to work on a BBSRC funded project investigating the importance of chromatin modifying proteins in regulating muscle stem cell function. The post holder will apply bioinformatics approaches to analyse high-throughput sequencing data and determine which molecular processes are affected by manipulations of chromatin modifying proteins. They will also develop statistical and computational tools for analysing live cell imaging data of muscle stem cells. The post holder will work to develop meta-analysis tools for linking cell behaviour to gene expression and to enable the prediction of genes with important functions in controlling muscle stem cell function.
This is a collaborative project between the groups of Dr. Robert Knight and Dr. Fiona Wardle. They have combined their relative expertise in live cell imaging and the genomics of zebrafish to ask how gene expression correlates with behaviour of a resident stem cell in order to identify new molecular regulators of muscle regeneration. The post holder must therefore be comfortable in working independently and in a team and be good at communication and engaging with team members. Applicants must have appropriate bioinformatics expertise for analysis of RNA-Seq datasets, ChIP-Seq datasets and training and expertise in statistical and mathematical analysis of such data. Experience of using computational approaches for image analysis, mathematical modelling and meta-analysis is desirable.
This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 1 year.
This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent.
