The role

The successful appointee to this position will lead the research aimed at enhancing the fire performance of timber using treatments and modification techniques.  The appointee will be in charge of leading research projects investigating the use of treatments and modification techniques towards achieving specific fire performance objectives related to ignition, charring, and self-extinction characteristics among others.  This research will require developing a deep understanding of the relationship between wood physical and chemical characteristics, the type of modification techniques available and their effect on the fire performance of timber.

The person

The person applying for this position will be highly motivated and able to demonstrate expert knowledge in one or more of the following areas: wood science, fire safety engineering, or material science.  With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the successful individual will be able to evidence their ability to work collaboratively and engage with students, staff and external stakeholders.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Remuneration

This is a full-time continuing appointment at Academic Level B.

The remuneration for Academic Level B will be in the range $93,985 - $111,607 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be $109,963 - $130,580 p.a.).
