Closing date for applications 01-Apr-2019
A Research Associate position is available on a Wellcome Trust-University of Bristol iTP partnership funded project to create and characterise novel cellular disease model systems of b-thalassemia.
The project will utilise our recently developed immortalised erythroid line BEL-A that recapitulates erythropoiesis, along with CRISPR genome editing to create sublines with b-globin gene mutations introduced recapitulating b-thalassemia disease phenotypes. The lines will be extensively characterised both to validate disease phenotype and to provide a data resource.
The position is open to candidates who have a PhD in Biochemistry, Cell Biology or related discipline. Experience of designing components for and performing CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing, lentiviral transduction, cell culture and analysis techniques such as multiplex flow cytometry, gel electrophoresis and cell morphological analysis are essential.
