Research Associate in Physics

Department : Physics

Applicants are invited to apply for a postdoctoral Research Associate role in the group of Dr. George Booth within the Theory and Simulation of Condensed Matter group. The successful applicant will be closely involved in computational projects with the PI, developing and applying cutting edge wavefunction-based techniques for both molecular and materials first principles modelling. A background in electronic structure theory from either a Physics or Theoretical Chemistry perspective is required, as well as strong programming skills and familiarity with high-performance computing. Experience with computational method development in electronic structure is highly desired.

Applicants are expected to have a PhD, or are awaiting its award, in a relevant area (Theoretical/Computational Physics or Chemistry), and strong expertise in the area of electronic structure theory development, implementation and publication record. The successful applicant will be expected to work within a collaborative theory group, and actively contribute to a variety of methodological developments, including stochastic, perturbative and embedding techniques.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 2 years.

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent.

Grade and Salary : Grade 6, £37,412 to £40,568 per annum, inclusive of £3,223 per annum London Allowance.
