Description

This posting is for a non-tenure track (NTT) Lecturer position with Bar Prep Emphasis at the University of Houston Law Center (UHLC). The contract is for twelve months, 9/1/2019 to 8/31/2020, the “FY20 Contract,” starting when classes start in late August 2019 and continuing through the end of August 2020.

If the candidate is available to start earlier, the successful candidate can begin with a precursor contract starting in the Spring of 2019 and ending August 31, 2019, the “FY19 Contract”.

This non-tenure track appointment will have no presumption of renewal. The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience.

The position’s responsibilities include courses and workshops. The courses are semester‑length activities. The workshops are for student Bar Prep and have varying audiences and topics. The workshops are arranged during the two months in advance of the February and July administrations of the Texas bar and primarily are offered to students on evenings and weekends.

There is an existing Law Center faculty member who delivers courses and workshops. The appointee to the position will work in conjunction with this faculty member to deliver sections of courses and workshops, as arranged by the Law Center’s Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Professor Greg R. Vetter.

An attorney appointed to the position must, at a minimum, hold a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

This Lecturer appointment is a NTT position and the appointee will accrue no time toward tenure at the University of Houston. Further information about the Law Center and its programs is available at: http://www.law.uh.edu.

This search is coordinated by the Law Center’s Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Professor Greg R. Vetter, gvetter@uh.edu. In addition to the formal application made in response to this posting, applicants should send the Associate Dean a short email expressing his or her interest, attaching a resume or curriculum vitae to that email.

The University of Houston is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action institution. Minorities, women, veterans and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
