Job Summary

Highly motivated, organized individual sought for a position as a research fellow in the Wu lab at the Life Sciences Institute of the University of Michigan. Research Project aims to identify targets that can be exploited therapeutically for the treatment of obesity and associated metabolic disorders, through regulating adaptive thermogenesis in brown and beige adipocytes.

Starting date: as soon as possible.

Responsibilities*

Experimental duties will include but are not limited to:

Molecular biology, PCR, DNA and RNA purification, plasmid cloning, gene expression analysis by qPCR and western blotting. Mammalian cell culture with both immortalized cell lines and primary cell isolation and differentiation. Retroviral or adenoviral techniques are preferred. The research will involve genetic rodent models.

Non-experimental duties will include but are not limited to:

Lab maintenance and organization.

Required Qualifications*

Ph.D. in field related to biomedical sciences.

  • Publications in high profile journals as a primary author.
  • Experience with mouse genetics and animal physiology.
  • Three experts in the related fields as references.

Desired Qualifications*

Experience in the metabolic field.
