Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Research Laboratory Technician Senior to join Dr. Clifford Cho’s laboratory.  This laboratory was established in 2006 and has been extramurally funded since 2007, and is interested in optimizing T cell-based approaches to cancer immunotherapy.  The current laboratory team consists of Dr. Cho as Principal Investigator, a laboratory manager, and a postdoctoral research fellow, and several graduate and undergraduate students. 

Responsibilities*

  • The applicant is required to function as a technician in a cancer immunology research laboratory.  The applicant is expected to work fairly independently and to carry-out the following duties: 
  • Conduct animal and laboratory experiments, collect and analyze data, and develop new and/or revised research methodologies.
  • Disseminate information to laboratory staff through data presentation and assistance with the preparation of abstracts and manuscripts.               
  • Oversee laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Organize the purchasing of laboratory animals and supplies.
  •  Maintain administrative records related to regulatory protocols and purchases.
  •  Provide general technical support and assist in day-to-day operations of the laboratory.

Required Qualifications*

  • Michigan Medicine requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years experience. 
  • Required skills are the ability to perform the following techniques:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Cell culture
  • Lymphocyte assays including flow cytometry
  • Mouse handling and procedures
  • Familiarity with immunological principles and biology

Desired Qualifications*

  • Desired qualifications include advanced study or demonstrated capacity for health science research that is generally associated with a Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible work experience.
  • Desired skills are the ability to perform the following techniques:
  • Mouse retro-orbital and tail vein injections
  • Mouse intraperitoneal and subcutaneous injections
  • Preparation of lymphocytes from mouse spleen, tumor, and lymph node tissues
  • Flow cytometry
  • Lymphocyte stimulation assays

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
