Position Summary

School of Art, Architecture + Design at Indiana University Bloomington is seeking applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Painting to teach all levels of undergraduate and graduate painting. The position is an annual appointment renewable up to two years based on performance, funding and programmatic needs. Teaching responsibilities include introductory through advanced project-based painting classes as well as advanced painting, Advanced drawing, fundamental (core) studio courses, BFA and MFA and seminars, and weekly MFA critiques. The position begins August 2019. SoAAD (https://soaad.indiana.edu/) is dedicated to a faculty composed of diverse scholars and practitioners. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate the values we try to cultivate in our students: to be curious, collaborative, and adaptable in a global art world. Applicants are sought whose portfolios and research span studio art and design, and whose teaching will address the broad ranging implications of this intersection in contemporary art. Area of expertise required is Painting. Other skills desirable could include, but are not limited to digital art, illustration, graphic design, installation or fabrication.
We host a BA, BFA and widely recognized Painting MFA program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching courses, participating in group and individual critiques, assisting in maintaining the studio environment, providing service as needed by the area and school, and maintaining and pursuing professional and academic expertise. Studio space provided when available.
