Job description

We are looking for a Postgraduate Research Intern to join the Research Support Team with the aim to engage in three broad areas of activities: (1) work directly arising from their submitted PhD thesis (e.g. generation of outputs); (2) development of a post-doctoral fellowship application or equivalent; and (3) engagement in agreed Faculty projects to widen research experience and skill acquisition. They will be supervised by their Director of Studies and other experienced senior researchers.

The post holder will need to hold a good honours degree, or equivalent, in a relevant area and a submitted PhD via either full-time or part-time route from UCLan or NIHR CLAHRC NWC Partner Organisation.

Experience of independent research at postgraduate level as well as experience of critical engagement with data and/or ideas is essential.

Excellent oral and written presentation and communication skills are a core requirement for this position as is the ability to organise own workload so as to be able to contribute to more than one project. The post holder will be numerate and IT literate (Microsoft Word, Excel) and provide a clear statement about their potential contribution to the research endeavour of the Faculty in the short term (1 year) and mid-term (3 years).
