Full-Time, Fixed Term (18 Months)

Applications are invited for the post of ‘Postdoctoral Research Assistant in MS cognition’ to join the Psychology Department, Royal Holloway, University of London.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as an academic in close co-operation with a major international pharmaceutical, to facilitate and implement digital collection of cognitive data, and contribute to understanding of how MS impacts cognitive function.

The successful candidate will facilitate and support the implementation of an IPAD version of the Symbol Digit Modality Test, a measure of information processing speed, in an international pharmaceutical trial, involving Europe and America. There will be validation studies and other psychometric data collection. The post holder will be responsible for liaison with software specialists, pharma trial specialists, investigators and trial centres, including training and supporting staff, which will involve some travel; overseeing data collection and storage, which will involve setting up data bases; quantitative analysis of results; contributing/leading on papers for peer-review journals, conference presentations and other dissemination, including charity platforms and social media. The post is funded by Novartis AG.

Qualified to Doctoral level (PhD or DClinPsy), the post holder will have a strong understanding of clinical research methods and an interest in neuropsychology, psychometrics and digital health. Good communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with academic, clinical and industry partners are essential.
