At Northumbria we are global in our scope and reach, with operations in London, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Singapore, and we remain the largest English provider in Hong Kong. The University continues its strong commitment to internationalism, including its valuable and long-standing links with Europe.

We are looking to make several key appointments for experienced and highly motivated lecturers or senior lecturers to contribute to our mental health related provision, with particular current emphasis upon our Children and Young Peoples’ provision. This includes our CYP-IAPT programmes, within which we offer pathways for professionals to work within psychological therapies, including CBT and systemic approaches to working with children and their families.

The post is based in the Department of Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing, in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. You will be responsible for developing and delivering high quality, research-rich teaching at post graduate and post qualifying level. You will demonstrate subject expertise with specialist knowledge gained through experience as a practitioner/clinician and you will have excellent knowledge of the complexities of working with children and their families, and the changing context of practice and service delivery. You will contribute to all aspects of professional studies relating to the academic and practice development of a range of practitioners.

Working in the Department you will be a member of a vibrant academic community that is multidisciplinary with social justice at the heart of what we do. The department of Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing is committed to making a difference to the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities and you will be expected to contribute to high quality research, knowledge exchange and engagement with a range of stakeholders.

We are seeking to appoint academics with experience of clinical practice. You should also have (or be prepared to obtain in the first 2 years of employment) membership of the HEA. It is expected that you will be qualified to Doctoral level, with a clear plan for your research. Accreditation within a recognised therapeutic modality is desirable.
