About us

In the UTS School of Education  we offer qualifications in teaching, applied linguistics, TESOL, learning and leadership and higher degree research, from Bachelor-level courses through to Graduate Certificates, Graduate Diplomas, Masters, PhD and professional doctorates.

From customised science, music, dance and visual arts teaching environments to informal study areas and dedicated research hubs, our purpose-built facilities are designed to shape education practice.

We now wish to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Applied Linguistics and TESOL to contribute to the core activities in the Applied Linguistics and TESOL degree program.

In this role, you will:

  • Teach and coordinate postgraduate subjects in Applied Linguistics and TESOL and contribute to academic curriculum development and industry engagement in this and related fields
  • Undertake teaching, learning and educational development responsibilities as determined by Head of School
  • Contribute to subject development, practicum supervision visits, feedback and review, as well as contributions to broader course development within relevant programs
  • Participate in a range of external engagement activities through involvement in public seminars, engagement with relevant industry, professional organisations, alumni activities, and other related tasks

About you

The successful candidate will participate in the research and scholarly activities of the Faculty and develop their own research program in Applied Linguistics and TESOL.

To be successful in your application, you will meet the following essential criteria:

  • Demonstrated involvement in teaching and researching in one or more areas of Applied Linguistics and TESOL
  • Knowledge and understanding of current key debates in Applied Linguistics and TESOL
  • Demonstrated experience/success in teaching within Applied Linguistics/TESOL programs in Australia
  • Knowledge and understanding of TESOL practices in Australia and overseas
  • Doctoral qualification in an area related to the position

Whilst not essential, the following are considered highly desirable:

  • Ability to design new subjects and teach into other existing subjects in the School
  • Research profile relevant to Applied Linguistics and TESOL
  • Primary or Secondary School teaching qualifications

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $102,952to $121,849 pa (Level B) and $125,150 to $143,725 pa (Level C)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing (permanent/tenured) basis.
