Job Details
The Department of Computer & Information Sciences at Northumbria University has research strengths in Artificial Intelligence and Visual Computing, Networks and Cybersecurity, HCI, Social Computing, Information Management and Data Analytics. Our new state-of-the-art £7m building, at the heart of our city centre campus in Newcastle upon Tyne, provides a stunning learning and teaching environment for students and staff.
A key area of our taught portfolio spans Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity. This includes two well-established UG programmes in Computer and Digital Forensics and Computer Networks and Cyber Security and a specialist MSc in Cyber Security. We are amongst the earliest providers of such programmes in the UK, which feature strong student recruitment. These taught programmes offer a concrete foundation to our wider commitment to Cybersecurity and Forensics spanning teaching, business and enterprise engagement, as well as research.
We are currently seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to complement and expand our capability in this area. We are especially keen to hear from applicants with Digital Forensics expertise. Applicants should have deep knowledge of operating systems, networking, routing protocols, computer and network security, and reverse engineering of software. You should know how to conduct investigations in the event of a crime, to correctly gather, analyse and present evidence of digital data to business and especially to legal audiences. You must hold a relevant first degree and it is desirable that you should be either qualified, or soon to be qualified, to Doctoral level in a relevant discipline and have a strong publication record commensurate with your experience. Proven ability to deliver high quality teaching is also essential. Membership (or eligibility for membership) of a relevant professional body is desirable.
