The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences is passionate about the principles and application of science and technology in all its forms and strives to be excellent in research, teaching and innovation. The Department of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation has particular strengths in human performance, health and wellbeing, the role of exercise and physical activity in the management of chronic health conditions, behaviour change and physical activity promotion for children and ageing populations. There is also a growing profile of research and evaluation activity related to policy and practice in sport management, sport development and sport coaching.
Working within the Department of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation, you will provide expertise in the area of Sport Development. Candidates with expertise in managing and evaluating sports projects and interventions, the use of sport and physical activity initiatives in communities, and/or strategic planning in sport are particularly encouraged to apply. The post may also involve a contribution to research methods teaching and generic skills modules. The Department will consider high quality applications in any area of related research. This will include designing and delivering high quality teaching activities, undertaking individual and joint research to produce internationally recognised academic outputs and participating in external activity to generate income and promote the subject.
You must hold a first degree and be either qualified (SL) or soon to be qualified (L) to Doctoral level in a relevant discipline, have subject expertise in sport development with specialist knowledge gained through research activity, professional practice or consultancy. Proven ability to deliver high quality research led teaching within an appropriate field and a publication profile (or clear potential to develop one) are desirable for this role. Membership (or eligibility for membership) of a relevant professional body is also desirable.
