The University is now looking to appoint a Professor in Aircraft Electrification within the School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing (SATM). One of three Schools, SATM is at the forefront of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing research. Cranfield Aerospace is at the heart of the Cranfield Global Research Airport and is renowned throughout the world for its teaching and research in the fields of aviation and aerospace. Closely embedded in industry, it will soon be opening the new £65 million Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre (DARTeC). 

Reporting directly into the Director of Aerospace, Professor Iain Gray, the new Professor in Aircraft Electrification will establish Cranfield as a research leader in the field of integration of electric aircrafts and hybrid-electric aircrafts. As well as contribute to the overall aerospace and aviation strategy for the University as a senior academic leader.

The right candidate will have a track record of world-leading, high-impact research, be able to think and act across diverse and broad technical and scientific disciplines, and work to drive and develop a research agenda at the forefront of innovation. You will also have a PhD in aerospace or electrical power related subject. The appointee will be expected to have experience of strategic academic leadership, a track record of competitive grant capture, and experience working with industry partners and stakeholders.

Exceptionally, the University will consider candidates who have held a senior position in industry, provided there is evidence of the capability to write high-quality journal papers and an understanding of the requirements of PhD supervision within an academic framework.
