The College of Nursing (CON) is seeking a 12-month, full time faculty member in medical-surgical nursing for the College of Nursing’s BSN program. This position is for the College’s Phoenix, AZ campus. The College is seeking a medical-surgical faculty member with experience in the acute care adult medical-surgical environment. The flexibility to function in both a critical care and a general medical-surgical setting is preferred.

Potential candidates must possess at least a master’s degree in nursing and 2 years of clinical nursing experience. An earned doctorate or enrollment in a doctoral program is preferred. Ideally, the candidate will have experience in classroom and simulation instruction and clinical supervision. The candidate must have experience in adult medical-surgical nursing. The candidate must have a current unencumbered licensure as an RN in the state of Arizona, or eligibility for licensure. National certification and licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in an appropriate nurse practitioner field is required, if applicable.

Faculty responsibilities will include classroom instruction in the undergraduate program, clinical and simulation teaching/supervision of undergraduate students in adult medical-surgical acute care settings, curriculum development, and academic advising. Other faculty responsibilities include those associated with service and scholarship commensurate with the CON and university expectations. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience. Qualifications:

  • master’s degree in nursing;
  • 2 years clinical nursing experience;
  • An earned doctorate or enrollment in a doctoral program is preferred;
  • Experience in classroom and simulation instruction and clinical supervision;
  • Experience in adult medical-surgical nursing.
  • A current unencumbered RN licensure in the state of Arizonia, or eligibility for licensure;
  • National certification and licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in an appropriate nurse practitioner field is required, if applicable.

  • Prior teaching experience at the graduate level is preferred;
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills;

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop rapport quickly and effectively with a diversity of populations;

  • Ability to provide evidence of excellent university-level teaching and/or significant publications;
  • Ability to work at times non-traditional business hours when needed (i.e. weekends, evening, and/or holiday)

Required licenses and/or certifications:

  • A current unencumbered RN licensure in the state of Arizona, or eligibility for licensure;
  • National certification and licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in an appropriate nurse practitioner field is required, if applicable
