Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics and AMO Physics in the Department of Physics (Ref.: 494234), to commence as soon as possible for two years, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Physics.  The appointee will conduct research on the theory of degenerate quantum gases in the group of Dr. Shizhong Zhang.  Current topics of the group include synthetic gauge fields and spin-orbit couplings in ultra-cold atomic gases, novel boson-fermion mixtures and dipolar molecules, and spin dynamics of strongly interacting Fermi gases.  Collaborations with other members of the theoretical condensed matter group in HKU are also encouraged.  Information about the Department can be obtained at http://www.physics.hku.hk/.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.

The University only accepts online application for the above post.  Applicants should apply online and upload an up-to-date C.V., a cover letter with a publication list and a research statement.  Applicants should also arrange three reference letters to be sent to Dr. Zhang (e-mail: shizhong@hku.hk) directly by the referees.  Review of applications will start as soon as possible and continue until May 31, 2019, or until the post is filled, whichever is earlier.
