- $72,880k - $84, 116k plus 17% superannuation and leave loading
- Continuing Full Time
- 35hr per week
The Technical Officer is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation of the Faculty’s Workshops that include a Woodworking Lab, Metal Lab and Plastics Lab. The Technical Officer provides a high standard of technical support and advice to academic staff and students to maximise academic research projects and teaching and learning programs. The Technical Officer will also be required to ensure that high levels of safety are adhered to create a safe working environment. This position will also assist with the upkeep of lab facilities including maintenance and servicing of equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Support
- Support students and staff in the workshop environment according to a rotating roster whilst taking all care to provide a safe and effective workshop environment
- Supervision and demonstration of training programs and induction processes
- Provide fabrication and model making advice to students
- Assist with the design and construction of research models, prototypes, structures and other in-house fabrication tasks WHS and Operational Support
- Maintain and service machines and equipment, adhering to and keeping maintenance registers and WHS documentation
- Maintain a functional and organised workshop environment
- Liaise with Business and Operations Manager to support lab upgrades and maintenance including purchasing of machines, equipment and materials
- Support the maintenance, upkeep and administration of the materials shop
- Apply administrative systems for WHS training and induction processes
- Undertake and maintain first aid certification and other WHS training as provided by the employer
