Role Description

The Propulsion Engineering Centre within the School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing (SATM), runs a large international activity embracing applied research, industrial short courses and leading MSc and PhD programmes. It enjoys global visibility and extensive links with industry. The Centre’s interests encompass novel cycles, gas turbine simulation and engine performance diagnostics. Continuing success and growth in the Centre has created an exciting opportunity in Gas Turbine Performance. The Centre also benefits from the use of industrial scale facilities that are deployed to carry out unique experimental work.

Applications for the position of Research Fellow or Lecturer are invited from motivated individuals familiar with in whole vehicle systems, or propulsion design and performance analysis. You will be joining an exciting, vibrant Centre involved in cutting edge research and teaching provision.

As Research Fellow you will be a confident and independent researcher, educated to Doctorate level (or close to completion) in a closely relevant engineering discipline or have significant industrial experience in in a topic relevant to Aerospace Propulsion, Aircraft or Systems Design, Modelling, Integration and Optimisation. You will have proven experience of leading Research Activities and a track record of publishing in high quality journals.

As Lecturer you will be educated to Doctorate Level and have proven experience as a PI for projects with major clients and a proven track record of income generation, or equivalent. Demonstrable experience in CPD education with the ability to lead Research Activities and a strong track record of publishing in high quality journals is essential. You will also have a demonstrable track record of delivering high quality teaching and student experience.

You will work very closely with the existing team of the Propulsion Engineering Centre and you will make a contribution to related research, teaching and student supervision activities within the Centre. There will be opportunities to grow and develop your career and make a major positive contribution to the Centre’s activities.
