Reports To: Head Chef
Salary: £20,836 per annum
Hours: 36 hours per week (5 days over 7), 52 weeks per year
Term: 9 Months Contract (Maternity Contract)
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Chef to assist the Head Chef and food production team to drive operational consistency and ensure exceptional quality.
You will have experience of working as a Chef in a catering or hospitality operation. You will have a successful track record and be passionate about producing tasty and exciting food options. You must have a passion for food, the ability to work using their initiative and as part of a team, be able to remain focused during busy times maintaining high levels of hygiene, food safety and attention to detail whilst offering speed and efficiency of service.
You will be involved in the preparation and cooking of food for all food service areas ensuring customer satisfaction whilst helping to drive sales. You will be responsible for carrying out all food safety, health & safety and COSHH processes within food production and service areas. You will also work closely with the chef team and service staff to maintain the highest cleaning standards in all food production areas.
The Catering & Bar Services Department is an in-house operation at St. Mary’s and is part of the TUCO purchasing framework. It caters to the food and beverage requirements for all catering and bar outlets, delivered hospitality, all functions including weddings, conferences and meetings, at locations on and off campus.
