Position Overview

The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) is one of seven Colleges at ANU. The College, which is structured into two main research schools, offers degrees in more than 20 discipline areas and excels in research across the creative arts, humanities and social sciences. The College has a substantial international research presence and is a major source of national policy advice. Our academic staff are internationally recognised for their research, and 57 are members of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, the Academy of the Social Sciences of Australia, or both. We also host 13 Australian Research Council Future Fellows and three ARC Laureates. A hub of vibrant activity, we host more than 270 lectures, concerts and exhibitions each year, most of which are open to the public. Our students, staff and graduates come from more than 60 nations, bringing a diversity of perspective to campus life.

We currently have one Research Services Coordinator (RSC) position available on a full time, fixed term basis for 12 months.  The RSC will have a strong administration background to provide high level support and strategic advice to academic staff engaged in research grants, enabling them to achieve the strategic aims of the College in terms of research outcomes. It is also an integral part of the role to develop strong relationships, through both inter-departmental collaborations (i.e. with other teams in the College including Finance, HR and School Administration) as well as external to CASS, such as the central Research Services Division, the Contracts team, and other College Research Offices.

As part of the CASS Research Office, you will be part of a small, close-knit team of professionals who are passionate in assisting academic staff of the College to source, apply for, and manage research funding. We aim to provide a stimulating environment to provide support for cutting edge humanities, arts, and social science research. Furthermore, we offer exciting professional development and training opportunities in a supportive work environment.

The successful candidate will:

  • Exemplify the College values of respect, integrity, effectiveness, empathy, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Have the ability to exercise initiative and work cooperatively as a member of a small team.
  • Be an excellent communicator with a strong customer service focus.
  • Be willing to learn in a fast paced environment, and have the ability to interpret and provide high level advice on policy and funding guidelines.
  • Demonstrate creativity and strong analytical skills, along with well-developed administration and organisational skills.

Experience in a research grants environment would be advantageous. Appointment will be made commensurate with relevant qualifications, skills, and experience.
