We are excited to invite applications for a Research Fellow position in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Surrey. You will be part of a team of scientists undertaking research in a vibrant, inter-disciplinary environment with a strong international reputation.

This project is a collaboration between the University of Surrey, our commercial partner, Molecular Warehouse, and the University of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Medical School in China, as well as several hospitals in Shanghai and a Chinese commercial partner. The project aim is to develop hand-held smartphone-based devices for both rapid diagnosis and also therapeutic drug monitoring of patients suffering from drug-resistant gram-negative infections.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in microbiology and molecular biology. You will be an important member of a research team focused on understanding AMR and developing novel approaches to control of drug-resistance.

The post holder may be required to travel in the UK and to China, and work closely with colleagues at the collaborating institutes.

Please note, it is University Policy to offer a starting salary equivalent to L3.6 (£31,302) per annum (full time) to successful applicants which have been awarded, but are yet to receive their PhD certificate. Once the verified original PhD certificate has been submitted to the local HR Dept, the salary will be increased to Level 4.1 (£32,236) per annum (full time).
