The main focus of the role of Library Assistant (Student Engagement) will be to provide general administrative support to the library’s Student Engagement team. The role will encompass responsibilities assisting visitor access procedures, as well as keeping records in support of the team’s campaigns and event involvement, such as materials checklists, spreadsheets, receipts, calendars, etc.

The team is passionate about contributing to and enhancing the overall student experience, and you would be expected to support this. This could extend to contributing an appropriate functional perspective.

You will have excellent communication skills, work well as part of a team, and enjoy building/maintaining relationships with colleagues across the library service and the wider institution, for example Print Services, Card Services. You will be required to employ tact and sensitivity when dealing with all library users and enquirers.

Accuracy and attention to detail are crucial and the successful applicant will be expected to be detail-oriented, highly organised, have experience of record-keeping, and be able to apply a diagnostic approach to their work activities. You will possess experience of working in an administrative role in a busy office environment and will have demonstrable knowledge of administrative systems and databases (Microsoft applications, etc.)
