Stanford Graduate School of Business

Residing in Silicon Valley, the heart of innovation, Stanford GSB has built a global reputation based on its immersive and innovative management programs. We provide students a transformative leadership experience, push the boundaries of knowledge with faculty research, and offer a portfolio of entrepreneurial and non-degree programs that deliver global impact like no other. We strive to change lives, change organizations, and change the world.

The Stanford Graduate School of Business Behavioral Lab is looking to hire (2) full-time Research Coordinators. This is a perfect position for those looking towards graduate school in organizational behavior, marketing, social psychology, and related fields.

Working under the direction and supervision of the principal investigator and/or study coordinator/supervisor, the Research Coordinator (RC) provides direct research support to the organizational behavior and behavioral marketing faculty and PhD students at the GSB Behavioral Lab.  Research support, about 80+% of time, may consist of running experiment sessions, programming computer-based studies, data coding and entry, gathering field data, and performing literature searches.

In addition to research support, roughly 10% of time, the RC will provide administrative support for the Behavioral Lab.  Administrative support may include communication with members of the participant pool, maintenance of the Lab website and participant pools, coordinating lab space scheduling, and ensuring the laboratory space is maintained.

The Research Coordinator must be an independent self-starter who can take initiative, see projects through to completion, and understand the unique priorities and demands of lab-based experimentation. Excellent communication and computer skills (word, excel, helpful to know html, etc.) are essential; statistics ability desirable. An ability to balance multiple, competing projects working with multiple faculty and doctoral students is a must. A mature personality is also a must.

The RC is responsible for maintaining a consistent and constant presence in the lab.  The RC may also have opportunities to sit in on lab meetings, and seminars. Supervision may be minimal or intensive, depending on the project; the successful candidate should be able to work well with both styles.

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Prepare correspondence, documents and reports.
  • Maintain and file forms and documents, including consent forms and master subject logs.
  • Assist with the screening, recruiting, and obtaining consent of study participants. Perform telephone or in-person interviews to gather data, as needed. Schedule and/or call subjects for appointments.
  • Prepare, distribute, administer and process questionnaires and tests, score test measurements and questionnaires, and code data for computer entry. Perform quantitative review of forms, tests, and other measurements for completeness and accuracy.
  • Type, edit and organize data. Prepare data for input into statistical databases.
  • Review and verify accuracy of database information and assist in making necessary corrections according to specific guidelines.
  • Order and maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Process study compensation payments and thank you letters to subjects upon completion of trial activities. Assist with post-study activities, as needed.
  • Be flexible to completing any other additional assigned duties.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • Two-year college degree and one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • General understanding of social psychological, marketing, or organizational behavior scientific theory and methods.
  • General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs.
  • Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with human study participants

In addition, our preferred requirements include:

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

*Consistent with its obligations under the law, the University will provide reasonable accommodation to any employee with a disability who requires accommodation to perform the essential functions of his or her job.
