The Institute for Health and Sport (iHeS) at Victoria University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to provide academic research excellence in the area of the Molecular Biology of Cancer Metastasis.  The research area investigates the role of genes related to molecular stress pathways and autophagy, delineating their role in metastatic cancer cell biology.  You are required to demonstrate the ability to conduct high-quality research, independently and team-based, generate research outputs and demonstrate the ability to attract external research funding to contribute to the growth of research into cancer metastasis and the development of novel therapeutics within the Institute for Health and Sport (iHeS).

You will also have access to Victoria University’s world-class sports research facilities at the Institute for Health and Sport.

You will need to:

  • Demonstrate capacity for undertaking independent and/or team research, including developing, conducting and leading research projects.
  • Demonstrate understanding of cancer cell biology, cancer metastasis, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, cancer therapeutics.
  • Demonstrate strong background and experience in range of research methods and designs, including cancer cell biology analysis, high-end microscopy, cancer cell signalling, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, in vivo cancer metastasis models and small animal imaging.
  • Demonstrate a track record of successful research including funded research such as Australian Research Council applications or equivalent international research funding grants.
