The Education Portfolio is headed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Vice President who leads the planning and implementation of the University's strategies related to RMIT's academic programs and the RMIT learner experience. The Portfolio is responsible for services to support the quality of RMIT programs, including the professional development of academic staff, continuous improvement of the learner experience, learning and teaching outcomes and the management of learning and research information sources.

The Role & Your Responsibilities

The Academic Skills Advisor is primarily responsible for working as part of a team to enhance students' academic language and learning outcomes. The position develops, implements and evaluates a range of discipline-based projects, workshops and builds the capacity of teaching staff to develop students' academic language and learning skills through workshops and Library drop in services. As the Academic Skills Advisor you will collaborate on the design, delivery and evaluation of integrated academic and communication skills workshops within programs and courses

Skills & Experience Required

In line with this role, we are seeking an enthusiastic applicant that has a demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective face-to-face academic language and learning support to students from a diverse range of backgrounds, within a tertiary environment. Important to this role will be your strong understanding of the principles of curriculum design and the ability to explicitly build academic communication skills into the design, delivery and assessment of course content. As a proactive team member, you will initiate, develop and negotiate effective relationships with clients, including students. In addition, you can review service delivery while using data collection methodologies.
