Position Description
We are seeking one post-doctoral fellow (2-year term) with training in psychology, epidemiology and/or biostatistics to be involved in an interdisciplinary program of research on the effects of trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder on health over the life course with a particular focus on aging. The fellow will be primarily located at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health working closely with Drs. Karestan C. Koenen and Laura Kubzansky and their research groups.
The post-doctoral fellow will work at the intersection of mental health physical health, focusing on prospective observational analyses of new data collected as a part of the Nurses Health Study II, a large prospective cohort, aimed at identifying modifiable risk factors for women’s health which was launched in 1989. The fellow may also have the opportunity for an appointment at Massachusetts General Hospital working with Dr. Koenen and Dr. Jordan Smoller on innovative research identifying trauma and PTSD in electronic medical records to inform mechanistic and intervention studies.
Basic Qualifications
Candidates are expected to have a PhD in psychology, epidemiology, or biostatistics or a related discipline and experience with analyzing data from large prospective cohorts.
Additional Qualifications
Training in modern methods of making causal inferences from prospective observational data and familiarity with cognitive, genomic and/or biomarker data would be pluses but are not required.
