We are seeking an experienced Post-Doctoral Researcher to work on a Marine Institute/European Regional Development Fund funded project A4 (Aigein, Aeraid, agus athru Atlantaigh - Oceans, Climate, and Atlantic Change) to work on ocean observations and their link to key climate variables. This position is associated with Work Package 1 of the A4 project looking at Atlantic variability. The work package is led by Dr Gerard McCarthy at Maynooth University. The appointee will be expected to collaborate with partners in the UK, and Germany, and the wider oceanographic community.

We are seeking to enhance Irish observational oceanographic capacity with this appointment. The A4 project marks a substantial investment by the Marine Institute and the European Regional Development fund in ocean research that is climate focused. The project is co-ordinated by Dr Gerard McCarthy at Maynooth University. The first objective of this project is to better understand the changing Atlantic and its impacts on climate. The project will utilise data from national infrastructure including data from weather buoys, on-shelf and shelf-edge hydrography, the deep M6 mooring, and glider sections as they become available through the lifetime of the project.

Post-Doctoral Researcher Salary Scale: €37,223 - €43,029 per annum (5 points)

Appointment will be made in accordance with the Department of Finance pay guidelines.

*New entrants to the public sector will be appointed on the first point of the above scale.
