The aim of this project is to explore the molecular mechanisms underlying the aggressive behavior of ER+ breast cancer in HIV-positive women and whether circulating tumour DNA can be used to monitor response to treatment in the metastatic setting in ER+ breast cancer in low and middle income countries and replace expensive cross-sectional imaging.
The research will focus on invasive lobular cancer. The successful candidate will work closely with our collaborator in South Africa and will be responsible for the genomic analyses of tumour tissue and ct-DNA and assessment of tumour immune infiltrate in the Breast Cancer Genetics group led by Professor Elinor Sawyer
The post holder will be expected to work independently. The role will include database management, micro-dissection and extraction of DNA and RNA from archival tissue and preparation of DNA and RNA for down stream analyses such as targeted sequencing, methylation and SNP arrays. The post holder will gain experience in the analysis of such data supported by a bioinfromatician. The post holder will also undertake assessment of tumour immune infiltrate using various techniques.
Grade and Salary : Grade 6, £37,412 - £38,434 per annum, inclusive of £3,223 per annum London Allowance
