Faculty members from the National University of Singapore’s Department of Economics and Business School (Alberto Salvo, Haoming Liu, Eric Fesselmeyer and Nan Yang) have secured funding for a promising scholar to join the Department of Economics as a research fellow for up to two years from August/September 2019.
The project is funded to examine how temperature shocks impact tropical Singapore’s developed economy and society. It uses data from different domains including time-space resolved cellphone user location, commuter choices, health outcomes, household resource use, schooling & human capital, and industrial productivity. The objective is to inform policy via publication in highly ranked academic journals.
The research fellow will be housed in the Department of Economics, a top-ranked research department in Asia. We are a highly international faculty, with a strong focus on scholarly research. We enjoy a constant flow of high-quality seminar speakers from around the world throughout the year. The student pool is drawn from Asia and elsewhere. The medium of instruction is English.
Compensation is competitive at about SG$ 6,000 (US$ 4,400) per month (negotiable).
Qualifications
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in hand or firmly expected by August 2019, and have strong skills in applied empirical methods. An interest in the following microeconomic fields is preferred: Environmental Economics; Urban, Real Estate, and Transportation Economics; Health and Education; Labor Economics; and/or Industrial Organization.
